GBBL Season 6 'What's New'

GBBL has a lot of new changes planned for this season, in hopes to make things more enjoyable while remaining competitive. We took a lot of your feedback from Season 5's townhall and have come up with the following:

GBBL Cup – Introducing GBBL’s annual trophy. Long overdue, this trophy will be awarded to the champions this season. It will also capture all previous season’s winners to date on engraved plaques. Stay tuned for the reveal….and another epic surprise.

Arm Sleeve – Custom arm sleeves for every player with their name and number

Captains - Every week, all captains are required to stay back for the Finals to help out with tasks

Committees  - This season, there will be committee's to help manage the workload during the season. Based on your registration responses, you may be nominated to join one of these committee's (Charity, Social Media/Video, Weekly Draft)

Rule changes – New rule changes in effect this season. This is to lessen the constant need to argue or dispute calls. Keep in mind 90% of calls will depend on fair play and respecting the call. For the times this doesn’t work, we’re introducing the following.

  • Line Judge

One of the captains of the week will be the designated ‘line judge’ for the finals. The line judge will make the final call on any out of bounds related dispute. This is not a referee for any other calls. Line Judge will make the final call to his best judgement. No video replay.

  • Timeouts & Coach’s Challenge in Finals

Each team will have one timeout in the finals this season. This can be used to trigger a Coach’s Challenge on a disputed call (foul, travel, etc.). The challenge will go to video review and the line judge will ultimately make the final call, and if successful, the call will be overturned. If unsuccessful, the other team will shoot ONE technical free throw worth 2pts (possession will remain the same).

You must have a timeout remaining to initiate a CC. You do not get the timeout back either way.

  • Foul on last possession in round robin (clarification)

If the game is on the line (3pts or less), a foul with 5secs or less will result in one more possession. The team will get 10secs on the clock for ONE final shot. No rebounds, tip ins, etc. ONE shot within 10 secs.

This is to avoid teams purposely fouling to get the win at the end of games

  • Penalties (-GUT PTS)

Any constant, lengthy arguments, poor or overly aggressive behaviour, overly physical play/fouls will be reviewed by management in a ‘last 2min report’ style each week. Player will be notified of the outcome.

Penalties will apply such as fines and subtraction of GUT points. -GUT pts depends on infraction and can be as little as 2 and up to 10. Accumulating -10 GUT pts at any time in the season will result in an automatic one week suspension.

-GUT pts will be tallied at the end of the season and taken off the players total GUT pts. Which means, this could end up costing you your spot in the top 10.

Tie Breaker – adjusted tie breaker order for this season

  1. Full wins (win w/ 13pts scored)
  2. Wins
  3. Head to Head
  4. PT Differential
  5. Pts For
  6. Pts Against
